Jamal recently enrolled in Bright Beginnings after a referral was provided by the Virginia Williams Family Resource Center.  Jamal’s wife had suddenly left him and their 4-month-old son Anthony.  With bills, rent and childcare fees piling up the family of two was forced into homelessness.  Before enrolling in Bright Beginnings, Anthony spent Monday – Friday for up to 10 hours hiding under his father’s work desk!  Jamal was too embarrassed to tell his boss that he had recently been left by his wife and could no longer afford childcare - instead he prayed every hour of every day that his son wouldn’t be discovered by his boss.  Since welcoming Jamal and Anthony into the program the family is doing much better!  Jamal has found a managerial job and is able to work flexible shifts to help jumpstart the family’s stability thanks to the evening care program.  Jamal and Anthony are now looking forward to a bright future together.
